Writing

Personal & Corporate

Everyone can write. A professional writer, however, knows how to take someone else's story, or message and ensure that what is written will ultimately engage the reader.

For most of my career, I wrote the marketing copy for many fine hotels and travel companies around the world. I wrote about a fall foliage tour, without ever seeing a tree turn colors. I wrote about a paddleboat chugging up the Mississippi River, but never stepped foot on the boat. All of this was done by listening to others who had these experiences and researching. For hotels, I was generally involved intimately in the day-to-day operations. That didn't mean, however, that I based all of my writing on my personal experience. I was often too busy to lay by the pool, or to sip a cocktail in the lounge, or even take a bath in a room's soaking tub. I wasn't too busy, however, to talk to our guests who gladly described in great detail their experiences in each area of the hotel.

As a writer, it is my job to get into your head and to translate your thoughts unto the page. That page can be a brochure, a website, an annual report, or even a memoir. The process for doing this is the same. I will interview you and ask questions. Whenever possible, I will visit the sites you are describing or meet the people who enter the story. I will research as needed to ensure what is being written is not only entertaining or enticing but factually accurate.

My services are as follows:

  • Ghostwriting a memoir, or autobiography.
  • Creating copy for a marketing brochure or annual report.
  • Copywriting, or refining current copy for a website.
  • Writing an Op-ed, or ongoing columns for a publication.
